Daily Scoop – May 14, 2013 – Daft Punk edition
Well, it’s not really a Daft Punk edition, per se, as it is a day brought to you by Daft Punk. Their new album, Random Access Memories, is available to stream via iTunes, and I’ve been listening to it all day. They’re so catchy it’s stupid! Stupid, I say.
Amazon has some digital deals up right now. 1000 Suba Points: Mission Against Terror is free, while Hitman: Absolution is $4.99, and the Professional Edition is just $4 more. The main deal page says that Sleeping Dogs is just $9.99 until tomorrow, but the page says $29.99, so I’m not sure what’s up with that. There also having a big Rockstar sale, with 50% off PC downloads and a $5 credit. Scoop ’em up!
As always, there are some t-shirts for sale today that are related to video gaming: (more…)

Daily Scoop: May 13, 2013 – It’s Monday again
Welcome to yet another Monday! I hope that you had a great weekend. We were busy running around a lot – we spent Saturday in Maryland at a Dungeons & Dragons Battle Interactive, and then yesterday was a mix of spending time with my family and moving boxes into our new apartment. I’m exhausted but I’m glad we got everything started! Now just a million more boxes left to go…
There are some great new deals going on at Amazon today. Injustice: Gods Among Us is $49.99 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and $48.92 on the Wii U. The Collector’s Edition is $20 off, marking it down to $79.99. The latest Atelier game, Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk, is on sale as well for $34.99. Scoop ’em up!

Daily Scoop: May 10, 2013 – Hooray for Friday!
Well, it’s finally Friday! I felt like this week just crawled on by. And now I’m going to have another busy weekend! It’s like these weeks just keep meshing into one long week that never ends sometimes. But at least it’s filled with fun stuff! We’re heading down to Maryland tomorrow to play a Battle Interactive, which should be a good time! And Sunday is Mother’s Day, and hopefully also moving some darn boxes day. We’ll see!
I couldn’t find you any deals today, so instead, here’s a GIF of a bunny and a cat.
Lots of great gaming shirts today! (more…)

Ridiculous Fishing Review: You Caught A Winner

If you’ve never heard of the company Vlambeer, it’s time to add them to that list you keep in your head of developers you love and hate because their games are so addictive. They first launched to popularity with their devilishly difficult Super Crate Box, and have also had success with some of their other games, including Radical Fishing and Gun Godz. The sequel to Radical Fishing, Ridiculous Fishing: A Tale of Redemption, was released for iOS in March, and has destroyed my free time on more than one occasion. But it’s more than just an addictive reflex-driven video game – it is, as its subtitle suggests, a tale of redemption. (more…)

Dead Space 3 Review: In Space, No One Can Hear You Scream in Frustration

Isaac Clarke just can’t seem to catch a break. He’s been to hell and back, and here he is again in Dead Space 3, being tasked once more with unfathomable responsibility. After all, who else can be trusted with saving the universe against the power of the Markers? Visceral Games has made some pretty serious changes this time around, most of them bad ones. Rumors have flown that there won’t be a Dead Space 4, and just yesterday, EA announced that Dead Space 3 didn’t sell enough copies to be considered “successful.” Keeping all of that in mind, are those rumors justified? Daily Scoop: May 8, 2013 – The Internet is full of fun
The Internet is a place that makes me happy! It always has the best stuff on it, like this Songbird Plush, which I really want to buy. I am trying to wait until we move to buy anything, but when I find something that awesome, it’s really hard to keep my cool!
There are a few new deals at GameStop this week that are worth checking out. The Sims 3 University Life Limited Edition is half price at $19.99, and The Sims 3 Seasons Limited Edition is as well. Call of Duty: Black Ops II and FIFA Soccer 13 have both dropped $20 down to $39.99, and Fight Night Champion and Skate 3 have both dropped $5 to $14.99. Scoop ’em up!
No gaming shirts today, but there are four awesome anime-related shirts, so I’m going to be selfish and share those instead! (more…)

Fire Emblem: Awakening Review: A Wonderfully In-Depth Strategy Experience

Fire Emblem: Awakening is the latest addition to the Fire Emblem franchise, a series which has only left the shores of Japan in the last decade. It’s also the first to launch on Nintendo’s 3DS, with full 3D capabilities. This strategy role-playing game is rich in character development and has a robust plot. You play as the Avatar, a character you get to customize yourself, and befriend Chrom, prince of Ylisse and captain of the Shepherds, a group of soldiers who protect the realm. As you make your way through the story, you level up and gain more characters to use in your battles, and also gain the chance to develop relationships. Permadeath is the norm in Fire Emblem games, but Awakening has a Casual mode that is more lenient for newer players. Does this destroy the integrity of the series? (more…)

Daily Scoop: May 7, 2013 – Board game night
I’ve been so busy the last few weeks that I haven’t made it to a single board game night at Redcap’s Corner. But it looks like that’s going to change tonight! Hopefully it doesn’t rain too hard, because I’ve got on canvas sneakers. It seems like that’s when it rains the hardest!
