Assassin’s Creed: Pirates will launch in December
The Assassin’s Creed franchise is pretty incredible when you think about it. Back in 2007, the first installment received good reviews, but also had many well-documented shortcomings such as faulty AI and repetitive gameplay. But five “main series” installments and ten handheld spinoffs later, it has become a veritable juggernaut of branding. The Assassin’s Creed universe encompasses books, comics, short films, and even an upcoming feature-length film.
Now, fresh off the successful release of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Ubisoft is doing what it does best… capitalizing on Black Flag with another spinoff. The publisher has released a new gameplay trailer for the franchise’s next mobile game, Assassin’s Creed Pirates. Featuring slick visuals and naval combat with upgradable ship parts and crew members, players will be able to live out their pirate fantasies with ship battles all across the Caribbean.
Assassin’s Creed: Pirates is slated for a December 5th release and has been priced at $4.99 on both the iOS App Store and Android’s Google Play store.

Operation Dead Angels launches “Bayonetta on Wii U” campaign

With Bayonetta 2 soon to be shooting and slicing its way onto the Wii U with a sexy smile, many have been wondering if the 2010 original would find its way onto Nintendo’s new platform. After a teasing tweet from Platinum Games’ Hideki Kamiya suggesting he could port the original to the Wii U before the sequel’s release…
We can. RT @lightningboltac If Nintendo decided to release Bayo1 on WiiU, will u be able to port it in time before Bayo2's release? Or later
— 神谷英樹 Hideki Kamiya (@PG_kamiya) November 22, 2013
…the Internet has done what it does best, created an online petition to demand something.
The group behind the “Bayonetta on Wii U” campaign is known as Operation Dead Angels. Originally released on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 to rave reviews, unfortunately, they did not translate into amazing sales figures. Kamiya has said in the past that if Nintendo had not acquired the rights to publish the sequel, it never would have seen the light of day.
It makes sense for all parties involved to release the original on the Wii U. For one, it will give Wii U fans a better sense of continuity for the sequel. But also, it will allow gamers a chance to revisit what should have been a better selling title, much in the same way Capcom’s Okami found new life on the Wii and PlayStation 3 after its original PlayStation 2 debut.
So if you want to see Bayonetta’s first outing on the Wii U GamePad, join up with Operation Dead Angels and start hounding Nintendo’s various Twitter accounts today!

Metanet will launch N++ on PS4 in next few months

Metanet’s Mare Sheppard and Raigan Burns recently sat down with GamesIndustry International to discuss N++, their upcoming ninja-steals-gold platformer for the PS4. While N++ missed the PS4’s launch, they had a lot to talk about.
Firstly, the developers revealed that N++ made the jump to the PS4 because of Sony’s willingness to help finance the game through their Pub Fund program. N+ originally appeared on the Xbox Live Arcade in 2008 and the duo said that if anyone at Microsoft had offered up a similar deal, they would have considered taking N++ to the Xbox One.
Sheppard and Burns also confirmed that N++ should arrive on the PS4 sometime in the next few months. They’re hopeful for a December release, but admit that “early next year” could be a possibility.

Rumor: Game of Thrones adaptation is coming from Telltale
George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire, is extremely in vogue right now. In addition to the television show on HBO, Game of Thrones has seen a massive influx of merchandising and more than one game adaptation already. The series is so big in pop culture right now that it’s the massive subject of a current South Park arc. And according to a recent report by IGN, Telltale Games (The Walking Dead) may be developing another Game of Thrones game.
While IGN claims that the news has been confirmed by “multiple sources,” Telltale Games SVP of Publishing, Steve Allison, stated that “officially [they] have no comment.” Of course, a representative from the company saying “no comment” doesn’t mean things aren’t happening. A Game of Thrones title would fit the Telltale MO of creating games based on preexisting intellectual properties, such as CSI, Jurassic Park and Law & Order.
While nothing has been confirmed, keep an eye out for any news about an upcoming Game of Thrones game from Telltale; it could very well be happening.

Weekly Warp-Up: We Now Live in a Next-Gen World
No, that’s not a typo. Welcome to the Weekly Warp-Up, your weekly wrap-up of the biggest and the best articles posted at Warp Zoned this week…
It is November 24 and the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One are both available in stores. Or at least, they have the capacity to be available in stores as both systems are currently sold out. Both Sony and Microsoft have confirmed that their respective next-generation console sold more than one million units.
Hmm, the next generation. With all three “next-generation” systems now available can we start calling this the “current generation” again? Probably not. Especially since the two companies will continue to support the PS3 and Xbox 360 for the foreseeable future. Next-gen, current-gen, whatever. Google made a Doctor Who Doodle yesterday!
