Kickstart This! The French Are Coming!
A little while ago in a string of Kickstart This! posts, I teased that I would cover a French game in the future. That future is now. There are not one but two two brilliant games currently seeking donations on Kickstarter from the country that gave us cafetiere coffee and the Etch A Sketch. So let’s give these hard-working developers the kindness and support that this holiday season is meant to be about.
What have you got, France? (more…)

Nintendo will re-release Wii and GameCube titles for Nvidia Shield in China
Nintendo began working with Nvidia several years ago, when the consolemaker was looking for a company to provide a graphical kick for their “NX” concept. In time, the NX would be revealed as the Nintendo Switch, and Nvidia confirmed the console would be powered by its popular Tegra chip. Today, Nintendo returned the favor in a surprising announcement to come out of China.
Speaking to Engadget, Nvidia has revealed that Nintendo will release remastered versions of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Punch-Out!! for the Nvidia Shield microconsole in China. Other games from Nintendo’s GameCube and Wii catalogs will be released for the Shield in the future… including Super Mario Galaxy.
Extending the business relationship that brought Nvidia technology to Nintendo Switch, some of Nintendo’s most beloved Wii and Nintendo GameCube titles are officially headed to China for the first time. New Super Mario Bros. Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Punch-Out!! are remastered in 1080p and available on the China version of Nvidia Shield, released today.
Because the Shield is so similar to the Switch, this deal might give us a window into Nintendo plans for its back catalog on the Switch. But that’s conversation for another time.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Resident Evil Revelations 1 + 2, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, more coming to Nintendo eShop this week
Nintendo rests for no holiday! Because it’s Thursday, the consolemaker just dropped a massive update on the Nintendo eShop.
This week, iOS and Android users will be able to download Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Nintendo’s “free-to-start” entry in the whimsical life simulation series.
But Nintendo fans should be extra thankful for Capcom this week. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, which was originally released for the DS in 2008, will receive a 3DS re-release. And Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil Revelations 2 will make their Switch debut this Tuesday, November 28.
You can learn more about all of this week’s additions to the Nintendo eShop (including a few Wii U games) after the break. (more…)
