The Walking Dead: Season 2 will launch on December 17

walkingdead-season2-header

Telltale Games is bringing The Walking Dead: Season 2 to nearly every platform imaginable, which means a lot of people are struggling to keep the release date secret. But it looks like the people who run Steam and Microsoft’s Major Nelson aren’t very good secret keepers as both have leaked the release date for Episode 1.

The game’s Steam page has confirmed that The Walking Dead: Season 2 Episode 1 – All That Remains will be available for download on December 17. Thanks to the Major, we also know that the Xbox Live Arcade edition will follow on December 18. Sony has been tightlipped about The Walking Dead: Season 2, but it’s a safe bet that the game will be added to the PlayStation Store on December 17 as well (a Tuesday, which is the online storefront’s regular update day).

The only question that remains is the release date for the iOS and Vita versions. Oh, also, do you think is Telltale readying a release of The Walking Dead: Season 2 on the PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U? That’s a good question to ask too.

Batman: Arkham Origins iOS Review: Swiping Your Time With Another Free-To-Play Fighter

batmanarkhamorigins-header

Even though NetherRealm Studios was only formed a few years ago, they have a long history in the video game industry. Originally known as Midway Chicago, they developed the original Mortal Kombat and its many sequels before their parent company went bankrupt in 2009. In the ensuing legal dealings, the development team was scooped up by WB Games, renamed themselves NetherRealm, and pushed out a fantastic reboot of the Mortal Kombat series.

But did you know that a small team resides within NetherRealm to pump out free-to-play mobile versions of some of WB’s biggest games? They did it last year with Batman: Arkham City. They did it earlier this year with Injustice: Gods Among Us. And now they’ve done it again with the recently released Batman: Arkham Origins.

Daily Scoop: December 9, 2013 – VGX 2013

So I missed the Video Game Awards for the first time ever, but that’s OK, because John Scalzo has me – and anyone else who missed them – covered. Check out all the amazing Warp Zoned coverage of VGX 2013 here!

I have to be honest – I’m pretty glad there aren’t many sales going on today. My wallet could use a break after the last few weeks! But there is one great sale happening, and that is the Batman: Arkham City GOTY Edition for $9.99 over at Amazon.

Other than that, it’s just more t-shirts, as always!

Weekly Warp-Up: VGX 2013 Aftermath Edition

No, that’s not a typo. Welcome to the Weekly Warp-Up, your weekly wrap-up of the biggest and the best articles posted at Warp Zoned this week…

Yesterday, we were treated to the first annual VGX Awards. The awards formerly known as the Spike TV Video Game Awards dropped the “Spike TV” part because it wasn’t actually shown “live” on Spike TV. Instead, the world got a Cops marathon and had to watch the whole thing online (though a shortened recap will air on Spike TV next week). Oh, before I forget, Grand Theft Auto V took home “Game of the Year” honors.

This year’s “World Premiere” trailers weren’t too impressive, but we did get new/first looks at Tales From the Borderlands, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Quantum Break, South Park: The Stick of Truth, Broken Age, Thief, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Destiny, Telltale’s Game of Thrones, Tom Clancy’s The Division, No Man’s Sky, and TitanFall.

Also, the staff of Warp Zoned has uploaded our look back at What We Played in November 2013 and an overview of The Games of December 2013.

And! There was one bit of huge news revealed earlier this week as Bungie has confirmed that Destiny, the first game in their “New Universe,” will be released for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on September 9, 2014. Bungie previously owned the mid-September release slot with the Halo series, so Destiny’s release date could be a coincidence or it could be a preemptive strike against Microsoft and the 343 Industries-developed Halo 5.

If you’re not too busy with new trailers, there’s more news from the week that was after the break.

VGX 2013 Trailer: TitanFall

titanfall-header

The inaugural VGX Awards closed with another look at 2014’s most anticipated game, TitanFall. Respawn Entertainment delivered a pair of trailers that showcased two previously unseen mech classes from the game.

The Ogre is a slow and awkward killing machine that will include a slew of powerful weapons. Meanwhile, the Stryder will be a fleet-footed mech that can outrun almost anything on the battlefield.

TitanFall will be released for the PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on March 11, 2014. Hit the break to view both trailers.
