Here’s a new CoD: Black Ops III Descent DLC Pack trailer ahead of tomorrow’s launch

Call of Duty: Black Ops III players on the PS4 will be able to download the Descent DLC Pack beginning tomorrow… which makes it the perfect time for Activision to release a trailer focusing on the four new multiplayer maps.

With the Descent DLC Pack, players will be able to battle it out in “Empire” (“an authentic Roman villa”), “Cryogen” (a futuristic prison heavily inspired by Demolition Man), “Rumble” (a stadium built for fights between giant robots), and “Berserk” (“a Viking village frozen in time”).

If you’re more interested in the new Zombies map, you might want to know that Sid Shuman of the PlayStation Blog will invite Treyarch’s Director of Zombies, Jason Blundell, to his studio for a special livestream tomorrow at 1:00 PM (Eastern Time).

The Descent DLC Pack will also be available for download on the PC and Xbox One sometime in August.

falloutshelter-header

Bethesda has good news for everyone who wants to play Fallout Shelter on their PC… the apocalyptic survival sim will be available to download beginning on June 14.

The publisher also confirmed that the game’s 1.6 update, which was announced during Bethesda’s E3 Press Conference this year, will be available on Thursday as well. The 1.6 update was described as the “really big one” and will include never-before-seen locations, characters, enemies, and a brand new series of Quests.

It’s unknown exactly how the PC version might differ from the currently-available mobile edition, but we’ll find out soon enough.

Pokemon Go will get Pokemon trading, new Gym features, leaderboards in future update

pokemongo-header

It’s official, Pokemon Go is a blockbuster. Since its release last week, the game’s overwhelming success has caused a complete server overload and a $10 billion bump to Nintendo’s value as a company.

But what does the future hold for Pokemon Go? Speaking to Business Insider, Niantic CEO John Hanke said that we can expect big improvements to come to the game soon, and that includes Pokemon trading.

“[Trading is] kind of a core element,” Hanke says.

While he didn’t go into specifics as to how this would work, Hanke says that trading ties in nicely with one of “Pokemon Go’s” core virtues, which is that it encourages players to interact with each other in both the virtual and real worlds. Swapping Pokémon around would foster those kinds of interactions.

Hanke also confirmed the developer plans to add more activities to the Gyms and PokeStops players can visit, as well as improvements to the game’s augmented reality technology. A global leaderboard is also in the works to see who really can catch ’em all.

injustice2-header

NetherRealm Studios is bringing Injustice 2 to this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, and Creative Director Ed Boon wants everyone (on Twitter) to know that two more playable characters from the game will be revealed during an “Injustice 2 Sneak Peek” panel.

In addition to new characters, Boon and his fellow panelists will talk about the Injustice comic and show off a brand new gameplay trailer on Friday, July 22:

Join panelists Ed Boon (creative director, NetherRealm Studios, and co-creator of Mortal Kombat), New York Times best-selling author Tom Taylor (Injustice: Gods Among Us) and a stellar group of actors – George Newbern (Scandal) as Superman, Phil LaMarr (MadTV, Futurama) as Aquaman, Laura Bailey (Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Lego Dimensions) as Supergirl – and possibly some surprise guests as they reveal exciting new gameplay and discuss new features and breakthrough customization aspects that expands on the previous title’s larger-than-life showdowns of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains.

Also to be discussed: the bestselling Digital First Comic – Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Injustice 2 will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One sometime next year.

New Tomb Raider film starring Alicia Vikander will open on March 16, 2018

tombraider-header

Alicia Vikander won an Oscar earlier this year for role in The Danish Girl, but she’s also signed on to pick up Lara Croft’s dual pistols in the next Tomb Raider film, which The Hollywood Reporter says will open on March 16, 2018.

The untitled reboot will be directed by Roar Uthaug, and won’t feature Angelina Jolie, who previously played the adventurer in 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and 2003’s Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.

In addition to The Danish Girl, Vikander is best known for her appearance in Ex Machina, as well as a co-starring role in last year’s The Man From UNCLE. She’ll return to theaters later this month as a CIA agent pursuing Matt Damon in Jason Bourne.

Weekly Warp-Up: Pokemon Go is a Go

No, that’s not a typo. Welcome to the Weekly Warp-Up, your weekly wrap-up of the biggest and the best articles posted at Warp Zoned this week…

We’re in that rather blissful post-E3/pre-Gamescom rift where nothing much of note happens in the video game industry. Thankfully, Pokemon Go is here to make the Summer a little more exciting. But remember to steer clear of dead bodies when you’re trying to catch ’em all.

Another favorite Summer pastime is the recently-ended Summer Games Done Quick charity stream. But you can still go back and relive all of this year’s great runs, and don’t forget to watch the event’s “3-Legged Race” kickoff by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

Finally this week, the Warp Zoned staff got together to discuss What We Played in June (Doom! Mighty No. 9!) and The Games of July (Um…).

More news from the rest of the week can be found after the break.

New Retail Releases: Ghostbusters, Song of the Deep, Monster Hunter Generations, More

newreleases071216

I ain’t afraid of no monsters! And it’s a good thing too, because Capcom will launch the latest game in the Monster Hunter series, Monster Hunter Generations, for the 3DS this week. Players will be able to go on hundreds of quests as they hunt a new crop of monstrous bosses by themselves or in a group with up to three friends in co-op multiplayer mode.

Monsters of the ocean haunt Insomniac’s side-scrolling Song of the Deep, a new “MetroidVania” available this week for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. As the first game published by GameStop’s GameTrust label, Song of the Deep will introduce players to Merryn, a young girl who goes under the sea to rescue her missing father.

Ghosts and zombies are monsters too, and I’m not afraid of them either… Activision will release Ghostbusters, a tie-in to the upcoming movie starring Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, for the PS4 and Xbox One. And Capcom will re-release Resident Evil 5 for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Finally this week, Sega will launch 7th Dragon III: Code VFD, the first game in the RPG franchise to be released outside of Japan, for the 3DS.
