All Articles: Assassin’s Creed: Revelations

Xbox Store Today: Watch Dogs 2, Assassin’s Creed Ezio Collection, more

Two big new releases are now available from Ubisoft, and both are available to download through the Xbox Games Store.

Leading things off is Watch Dogs 2 for the Xbox One, Ubisoft’s second open world game starring the “hacktivists” attempting to take down the invasive ctOS operating system. “Brilliant young hacker” Marcus Holloway will try to save San Francisco from this criminal organization that wants to “monitor and manipulate citizens on a massive scale.”

Also available today is Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection, a remastered collection for the Xbox One featuring Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. Sharpers graphics and more detailed textures await players who want to dive into the intrigue and subterfuge found in Renaissance-era Italy… and the eternal battle between the Assassins and the Templars.

You can find the rest of today’s new additions to the Xbox Games Store after the break. (more…)

Watch Dogs 2, Killing Floor 2, Assassin’s Creed: Ezio Collection, more added to PS Store

Three very different action games lead the way as part of this week’s PlayStation Store update.

Like its predecessor, Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs 2 is an urban adventure for the PS4 where “hacktivists” attempt to disrupt the corrupt ctOS system while also fighting against a larger conspiracy. This time, the action shifts to San Francisco, and players follow “brilliant young hacker” Marcus Holloway in his quest to stop the unnecessary surveillance.

Ubisoft will also launch another set of open world games for the PS4 this week, but their setting is worlds away from San Francisco’s technological utopia. In Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection, players will get the chance to explore Renaissance-era Italy as they replay Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations . Available for first time on the PS4, the trilogy features enhanced graphics and redone textures to create a more realistic open world.

Finally this week, Tripwire Interactive will unleash Killing Floor 2, their zombie-blasting first person shooter, on the PS4 on Friday. Picking up right where the first game left off, the sequel descends into continental Europe as players attempt to clear “zed-laden hot zones.”

A full rundown of this week’s additions to the PlayStation Store can be found after the break. And you can find information about all of this week’s new add-ons and discounts at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)

Ubisoft polishes up Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection in PS3-to-PS4 Comparison Trailer

Ubisoft will release Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection for the PS4 and Xbox One next week. Just like it says on the box, the compilation will include remastered re-releases of Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. Over at the UbiBlog, developers from Virtuos discussed how they squeezed the “1080p resolution, improved draw distance, and a host of improved visual effects” out of the three games.

“The Assassins Creed franchise has always be known for stunning visuals and we’ve been very careful to keep the game feel authentic, just more beautiful,” said Xu Zhiyong, Lead Producer at Virtuos Studio. “For us, our work is all about dialing up the beauty and making a much loved world even more vivid, engaging, and immersive for the players.”

They also unveiled a brand new Comparison Trailer that puts the PS3 originals side-by-side with The Ezio Collection on the PS4. The results are pretty impressive.

Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection will bring AC2, Brotherhood, and Revelations to PS4, Xbox One this November

“Batti il ferro finché è caldo.” (“Strike while the iron is hot.”)
– Italian Proverb

Ubisoft announced today that they plan to release Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection for the PS4 and Xbox One on November 15. As the name implies, the compilation will include all three adventures starring Ezio Auditore… Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. However, Ubisoft has decided not to include the multiplayer portions of Brotherhood and Revelations in The Ezio Collection.

Instead, the publisher will improve the overall aesthetic of the franchise with “enhanced graphics,” along with adding in all the downloadable content designed for the single-player Story Mode from each game. The previously-released short films, Assassin’s Creed: Embers and Assassin’s Creed: Lineage, will also be included in The Ezio Collection.

And speaking of films based on Assassin’s Creed, every copy of The Ezio Collection will include a movie ticket good for one admission to Assassin’s Creed, which opens in theaters on December 21 and stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard.

Finally today, Ubisoft confirmed that the 14 titles in the Assassin’s Creed franchise have collectively sold more than 100 million copies worldwide.

“Creating an Assassin’s Creed game is no easy task. It takes the creativity and hard work of many people in many different Ubisoft studios all over the world,” Senior Producer Martin Schelling told the UbiBlog. “To have this franchise join the ranks of those that have reached more than 100 million sold is a testament to the teams that have taken on that challenge over the years.”

NCAA Football 13 is the bestselling game of July 2012

The NPD Group has released their list of the ten bestselling games of July 2012 and, surprising no one, NCAA Football 13 took the top spot.

The football sim was the only new release from the month of July to crack the top ten, but to be fair, there weren’t very many games released last month. Instead, the top ten is populated by holdovers like Lego Batman 2, The Amazing Spider-Man, and two Call of Duty games (Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3). According to Joystiq, this motley crew could only manage sales of $260.7 million, a 23% drop from July 2011’s take of $338.5 million.

The full top ten is available after the break. (more…)

Resistance: Burning Skies, Pure Chess, more added to PS Store

Sony has performed their weekly update on the PlayStation Store and added a pair of new Vita games, a pair of new PSN games, and a pair of new full PS3 games.

This week’s Vita update features Sony’s new FPS for the handheld, Resistance: Burning Skies. Also available is a chess simulator, Pure Chess.

And speaking of Pure Chess, the game is also available on the PSN. Both versions include PS3/Vita cross-platform play, but sadly, each version of the game is a separate download. So if you want it on both the PSN and the Vita, you’ll have to buy it twice. If you’d prefer something a little less cerebral in your PSN downloads, also new is the off-road racer Mad Riders.

On the PS3 Full Game front, Sony has added Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Rayman Origins to the store this week.

Finally, there’s more Rayman in the PS2 Classics section as Rayman Arena has also been added as well as a Vita demo of Gravity Rush.

Hit the jump for a complete rundown on all of these titles, and head over to the PlayStation Blog for a look at this week’s new game add-ons. (more…)
