CoD: Advanced Warfare Supremacy Pack trailer includes 4 seconds of Bruce Campbell… and a first glimpse at four new multiplayer maps

Bruce Campbell, the world’s most famous zombie hunter, will have an expanded role in the third Exo Zombies episode, which Activision revealed today as part of an announcement for the next downloadable expansion for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The nearly three-minute long trailer only includes fleeting glimpses of the groovy actor, but it was the highlight of the video for me.

Besides the mighty Bruce, the Supremacy Pack will include four new competitive multiplayer maps:

  • Parliament: Docked on the River Thames, this military cargo ship delivers a view of the London cityscape along with a fast-paced combat experience. Mixed site-lines provide opportunities for all styles of play to dominate this medium-sized map. Players can take control of the map-based scorestreak to unleash a barrage of missiles that annihilate enemies.
  • Kremlin: Gamers must prepare for intense combat outside Russia’s presidential palace in the new map Kremlin, as they navigate the worn-torn buildings of Red Square in this medium-sized, three-lane map. Secure elevated positions to give the team a strategic advantage, or use exoskeleton capabilities to avoid being caught in the minefield that activates mid-match.
  • Compound: Players take combat preparation to the limit in an Atlas training facility hidden away in the Colorado wilderness, as they’ll have to be quick on the trigger in this small, symmetrical map, which funnels high-speed combat through tight corners to the main tower structures.
  • Skyrise: Players deploy to an Atlas Skyscraper overlooking the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. Based on the fan-favorite, Highrise, from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 by Infinity Ward, this map brings new exoskeleton mechanics to the classic multiplayer layout. Gamers must dominate the power positions in the center of this small-to-medium sized map to control the key navigation points.

The episodic “Exo Zombies” co-op mode will continue in “Carrier,” which will star Campbell in addition to returning cast members John Malkovich, Bill Paxton, Rose McGowan, and Jon Bernthal. “Carrier,” which takes place on an Atlas aircraft carrier, will include “advanced new weaponry, enemy Atlas Strike teams, Sentinel support squads, and a host of new zombie enemies.”

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s Supremacy Pack will be available for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 on June 2. Thanks to Microsoft’s timed exclusivity, PC, PS4, and PS3 players will have to wait at least a month to dive in to the new maps.

New trailer confirms Extreme Exorcism is also coming to PS3 and Wii U this year

Developer Golden Ruby Games is hard at work on Extreme Exorcism, an arena platformer where players have to bust a bunch of ghosts while avoiding attacks from their past lives. The premise alone should be enough to put it on your radar, but development is also coming along nicely as we awarded it a Best of PAX East 2015 badge earlier this year.

In fact, Extreme Exorcism was a huge hit with a lot of convention-goers, many of whom asked the developer to bring the game to the PS3 and Wii U in addition to its previously-announced destinations (PC, PS4, and Xbox One). As you might have guessed from the headline, Golden Ruby has granted their wish and released a brand new gameplay trailer to boot.

Extreme Exorcism will be available for all five platforms later this year, but it’ll likely be after this year’s E3 Expo as Golden Ruby plans to demo the game in Ripstone Publishing’s booth at the big show.

Ride the “Savage Road” in this new Mad Max story trailer

“Life is a Savage Road. Out here, a man with no wheels is a man with no hope.”

After the massive success of Mad Max: Fury Road, WB Games and Avalanche Studios have decided to give us another dose of their upcoming Mad Max game, which will be released on September 1 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

In the new trailer, which has been embedded above, we learn a little bit more about the game’s story and come face-to-face with Lord Scrotus, a Wasteland warlord with his own pack of War Boys. Set before the events of Fury Road, the gang steals Max’s beloved Interceptor and leaves him for dead… setting up a vengeance-fueled car chase, which is something of a specialty for Max.

Lord Scrotus probably should have just walked away.

Until Dawn will be released on August 25

Sony has announced Until Dawn, their deranged-killer-in-the-woods tale (and there’s a cabin too), will be released on August 25. Suppermassive’s horror game has traveled a rocky road from announcement to release (the game was originally expected to be a Move-exclusive title for the PS3), but there’s finally light at the end of the tunnel.

To celebrate, the developer has released a brand new “Launch Date Trailer” that features even more footage of teenagers in peril. Any, or all, of the eight characters can be felled by the killer’s axe… and we might finally know who’s playing him. Posting on the PlayStation Blog, Supermassive’s Pete Samuels announced that Peter Stomare has joined the game’s cast in a mystery role. While we don’t know if Stormare will be playing the killer, he’s portrayed a psycho so many times on film (most famously in Fargo) that it would be a huge shock if he were a good guy.

Finally, Sony and Supermassive also revealed that players who pre-order Until Dawn will receive access to a special Bonus Chapter. According to Samuels this chapter will star Matt and Emily, “a new couple, out on the mountain… but it’s not long until they start to suspect they aren’t alone.”

Capcom will release a remake of Resident Evil 0 in early 2016

After selling more than one million copies of the Resident Evil remake earlier this year, Capcom is dipping a little deeper into the franchise’s back catalog for their next Resident Evil re-release.

Resident Evil 0 was originally released for the GameCube in 2002 and it has only been re-released once (for the Wii in 2009), which makes it rather unique among other entries in the franchise. That will all change early next year as Capcom plans to release a remastered version of Resident Evil 0 for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

The remake will be in good hands as Several members of the original Resident Evil 0 development team, including Director Koji Oda, will be working to bring it to current-generation and previous-generation consoles.

For now, that’s all we know, though Capcom has promised to reveal more information about the Resident Evil 0 remake “in the coming weeks.”

What is Advent? 2K Games is teasing a sinister utopia on new alternate reality website

2kgames-logoLess than a week ago, 2K Games announced they would release a “new triple-A title” sometime before April 1, 2016. Today, the publisher began teasing a game currently known as Advent through an in-universe website found at AdventFuture.org.

The website is a sales pitch for the Advent Administration, a futuristic planned community that promises “a world free from hunger, pain, sickness, and war.” However, the main focus of Advent is their gene therapy program, which they claim will cure any disease through a series of DNA splicing and advanced medical procedures. Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? But as you view the page, the hopeful paragraphs begin to disappear as if the site’s been overtaken by hackers. Red skulls block out the company’s logo and a warning (“The Advent is lying to you”) appears below their promises of long life and tranquility.

Hangar 13, 2K’s newest internal studio, is the development house that’s mostly likely to be behind Advent. Last December, the publisher announced that Haden Blackman (the Jedi Master responsible for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and its sequel) would lead the studio in its creation of an “open-world next-generation title.”

Hopefully, 2K will continue to update the Advent website in the run-up to this year’s E3 Expo, which seems like a logical place to announce a “new triple-A title” from a brand new studio.

UPDATE: 2K Games has confirmed that “Advent” is actually XCOM 2, which is currently in development at Firaxis.
