I have returned from the East Coast Game Conference, which was a great time! I met some amazing people, attended some informative talks, and got to check out a new city – Raleigh, North Carolina. The conference opened my eyes to a lot of great things happening in the video game industry, and made me realize more than ever how grateful I am to be a part of it!

But I know why you’re really here… it’s for deals and t-shirts. So I will let you in on a little deals secret! Amazon is having a sale on some great games, including half off Assassin’s Creed III and Dishonored, both marked down to $29.99. You can also save $20 on Gears of War: Judgment, which is just $39.99. Oh, and don’t forget – Monaco is out! So go buy it :)

Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable Review: Killing Bugs Was Never So Fun

earthdefenseforce2017-header

Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable is a Vita port of Earth Defense Force 2017, an Xbox 360 game of almost the same name which came out on the Xbox 360 back in 2007. As a member of the elite Earth Defense Force, developed to protect the planet against hostile aliens, you are the first to fight against the crazy insectoid aliens that invade Earth. With overpowered guns, destructible environments, and hilariously terrible voice acting, the game ends up being just about perfect for the portable environment. But if you’re looking for anything groundbreaking, you’re sure to be disappointed. (more…)

Secret Ponchos Hands-On Preview: These Outlaws Will Steal Your Heart (Literally)

secretponchos-header

Secret Ponchos is a top-down, twin stick arena shooter stylized as a Spaghetti Western – characters, locations, music, and all. Developer Switchblade Monkeys has taken their love of those old Italian movies and married it to twitch-reaction arena mechanics, creating a game that took PAX East 2013 by storm. After seeing the trailer, it was on the top of my list of must-play games that weekend, and I was not disappointed by my experience. (more…)

Amazing new print details controller evolution

evolution_of_game_gontrollersEver wonder what it would be like to see every controller ever made in one lovely evolutionary wall print? Well wonder no more, because now it’s a thing you can actually purchase. The Evolution of Video Game Controllers is a wonderful 27″ x 39″ print that will set you back $29. You can pre-order it now and it will ship on Monday, April 22.

From the write-up:

“The complete family tree of video game control schemes–including handhelds, joysticks, paddles, gamepads, and one notable glove–this chart shows how gaming input has evolved from simple knobs to directional pads to touch screens. Including every console ever, this sprawling print features 179 species and 12 genera over seven decades of gaming.”

I’m about to move into a new apartment, and I think I just found the first item I’m buying for it. Who wouldn’t want the Wu-Tang controller forever immortalized on their wall?
