HyperDimension Neptunia ReBirth 3 will be available for PS Vita this Summer
Idea Factory and Compile Heart continue to crank out their portable HyperDimension Neptunia remakes as the publisher and developer have confirmed that HyperDimension Neptunia ReBirth 3: V Generation will be released for the Vita this Summer. HyperDimension Neptunia ReBirth 3 is a portable remake of HyperDimension Neptunia Victory, a JPG that was originally released for the PS3 in 2013. According to Idea Factory, the remake includes “more story, more scenarios, and extra heapings of fourth-wall-breaking comedy!” A Japanese audio track will also be included for a more authentic experience.
So what are you getting yourself into with HyperDimension Neptunia ReBirth 3? Here’s what the publisher had to say about their third RPG parody of the video game industry:
It’s time to Nep-Nep like it’s 1989. Neptune’s been sucked into an alternate dimension of Gamindustri! In order for her to escape from this late ‘80s world, Neptune will have to collect enough shares to open up the path to her own dimension. Sounds easy enough – except a nefarious alliance called the Seven Sages wants to rid Gamindustri of all CPUs, including Neptune!
Forging cross-dimensional friendships, will Neptune be able to defeat the Seven Sages, save this alternate dimension and get back to her own, or will she be stuck in the 80s forever?
It’s pretty sparse at the moment, but you can head over to the game’s official website to have a gander at the first screenshots from HyperDimension Neptunia ReBirth 3: V Generation.

New trailer showcases “Spring 2015” Vita games: Shovel Knight, Hotline Miami 2, more
I’m not sure Sony understands how seasons work, especially after viewing this highlight reel of “Spring 2015” releases on the Vita. The mercury has dropped to 40 below in some places, and I’m watching a trailer that includes a game that launched yesterday (the monkey rhythm game Jungle Rumble), one that was released last week (movie tie-in SpongeBob HeroPants), and another that’s been available since January (Grim Fandango Remastered). Now, I’m no big city meteorologist, but I think I can safely say that those are all “Winter” releases.
That said, the short trailer does give us a nice glimpse at some of the upcoming Vita games that will populate the PlayStation Store over the next three months. They include JRPG Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines, surreal shooter Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, top-down squad shooter Helldivers, beloved retro side-scroller Shovel Knight, action RPG Toukiden: Kiwami, side-scrolling skateboarder OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood, and the Zelda-like Titan Souls.
Further said, this trailer isn’t just for portable players. Many of these titles will be offered up on the PS3 and/or PS4 as part of Sony’s Cross-Buy promotion.

PS Store Today: Evolve, Super Stardust Ultra, Minutes, more
Evolve (PS4) roars onto the PlayStation Store today as Turtle Rock’s “4v1” shooter asks players to choose a side between four human Hunters and one massive Monster. It’s joined this week by Super Stardust Ultra, a space shooter with a big history on PlayStation platforms; Minutes, “a twisted form of bullet hell” (also Cross-Buy on the Vita); and Unmechanical: Extended, a puzzle platformer staring an adorable robot (also Cross-Buy on the PS3).
Speaking of the PS3, it’s now home to the multiplayer medieval brawler Chivalry: Medieval Warfare as well as the “cross-dimensional” space shooter Hyper Void.
Finally, the Vita will receive the fantasy platformer AeternoBlade, and the monkey rhythm game Jungle Rumble: Freedom, Happiness, and Bananas.
More information on all of these games can be found after the break. And, as always, a complete list of this week’s new game add-ons and discounts can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)

Did You Hear? Video Game Release Calendar Update #1
Don’t Forget! Warp Zoned’s complete calendar of release dates for 2015, 2016, and beyond can be found right here: Video Game Release Calendar.
Welcome to Warp Zoned’s first “Video Game Release Calendar Update.” We’ve collected all the latest announcements and date changes from the last six weeks and added them to one of the most accurate game release calendars out there.
The month of March is filling out particularly well…
- It starts with the March 5 launch of Mario vs Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars, Nintendo’s first 3DS and Wii U Cross-Buy game.
- And then there’s the March 6 release of Zombie Army Trilogy (PC, PS4, Xbox One) and its supernatural WWII shenanigans.
- A week later is the March 10 launch of the PC version of Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, which now features eye-tracking technology for camera control.
- A day after that, on March 11, the “Metroidvania” Ori and the Blind Forest will be available for the PC and Xbox One.
- Finally, the Borderlands: The Handsome Collection closes out the month with a March 24 release on the PS4 and Xbox One.
The Spring and early Summer is also beginning to fill up with the announcement that Xenoblade Chronicles 3D will be available for the New 3DS XL on April 10. Nintendo will follow their massive action RPG with the puzzle-RPG styling of Puzzle & Dragons Z + Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition (3DS) in May, which will launch alongside Splatoon, a shooter for the Wii U. And in June, we’ll get the chance to try out The Elder Scrolls Online on the PS4 and Xbox One (on June 9) and Lego Jurassic World (which will be released for every system under the sun).
Speaking of Lego adaptations, Lego Avengers will be available this Fall. As will Skylanders 5, which is currently in development for unannounced platforms.
And lastly, Blizzard has said that Overwatch (PC) and StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void (PC) will likely launch in 2016 after each receives a beta test in 2015.
The complete list of updated release dates can be found after the break. (more…)
The future of the Killzone franchise will be revealed “Soon”
It looks like Sony and Guerrilla Games are getting ready to announce the next entry in the Killzone series. Today, an image of a Helghast soldier and the word “Soon” were posted to the franchise’s official Twitter account:
Soon. pic.twitter.com/SikOKnRXK3
— Killzone (@killzone) February 10, 2015
It’s been a little over two years since we last saw a new entry in the Killzone series. Sony and Guerrilla released Killzone: Shadow Fall as a PS4 launch title. But 2013 also saw the release of the Vita-exclusive Killzone: Mercenary, and its possible that this image might portend a sequel to that game. According to Polygon, Mercenary used a “V and parallel bars” symbol to represent currency. The same symbol that’s seen in the eyes of the Helghast soldier above.
How soon is “Soon”? Hopefully we’ll find out… um, soon.
Q*Bert Rebooted will hop onto the PS3, PS4, Vita next week
Show of hands, who remembers Q*Bert? Anybody? Q*Bert was an alien-looking little guy who served as the main character of a mostly forgotten 80s arcade classic also known as Q*Bert. After players plugged their quarter in, they helped Q*Bert climb to the top of a pyramid of stacked cubes over and over again.
After an appearance in Wreck-It Ralph, Q*Bert will return in Q*Bert Rebooted. Originally released for Steam and mobile devices last year, Q*Bert Rebooted will be available to download from the PlayStation Store very soon.
In addition to the original arcade game, Q*Bert Rebooted’s main draw is the… wait for it… all-new Rebooted mode. Now, Q*Bert doesn’t just climb cubes, but hexagons as well. Writing on the PlayStation Blog, Jason Sorensen of Loot Entertainment said that the five-way movement allows for “really interesting level designs, especially later in the game.” The game will also add a variety of new features to the time-tested franchise including “time and score challenges, new enemies with their own unique behaviors, new playable characters, power-ups, traps, and gem-collecting.”
Just how close is the PlayStation version of Q*Bert Rebooted? Very close. The game will be available for the PS3, PS4, and Vita as a Cross-Buy title next week on February 17.

Lego Jurassic World teaser trailer promises June 2015 release date
WB Games has unveiled a teaser trailer for Lego Jurassic World and it includes everything you could ever want from the intersection of Legos and dinosaurs. There’s a recreation of the famous water glass scene, funny dinosaurs, and a short-armed Tyrannosaurus gag. We’ve also learned that players will be able to play as a Lego dinosaur to (presumably) terrorize patrons of the park.
“As ardent fans of Universal’s Jurassic Park films, we are thrilled with the opportunity to finally bring Lego dinosaurs to life for the first time in a videogame in Lego Jurassic World,” said Tom Stone, the Managing Director at TT Games. “Imagine playing as the ominous Lego T. Rex, roaming the grounds of Isla Nublar, smashing Lego bricks and battling with other dinosaurs… this game is bound to bring out the kid in all of us.”
Lego Jurassic World will be released this June for the 3DS, PC, PS3, PS4, Vita, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
Game of Thrones: Episode 2, Apotheon, Criminal Girls, more added to PS Store
Another week, another PlayStation Store update. Ready? Here we go…
- Game of Thrones: The Lost Lords (PS3, PS4) is the second episode of Telltale’s Game of Thrones adaptation. With four more episodes planned, there’s going to be a lot more story to come.
- Apotheon (PS4) is a side-scrolling platformer with a Greek mythology motif.
- Risk (PS4) is a console rendition of the popular game of “Global Domination.”
- Criminal Girls: Invite Only (Vita) is a wacky JRPG that asks players to save a group of teenage girls from a life of eternal damnation by “punishing” them to increase their fighting skills.
- Kick & Fennick (Vita) is a platformer starring Kick, “a little boy with a very big gun,” and Fennick, “a small flying robot.” Sounds like fun.
More information on all of these games (and a few others) can be found after the break. And as always, this week’s new game add-ons and discounts can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)
