Nano Ninjas Review: More like Nano Nonjas

nanoninjas-header

Nano Ninjas is a tower defense game for iOS devices from indie developer Bad Chunk. It sets angry robots who look like samurais and ninjas against actual ninjas. It’s built very similarly to Plants vs. Zombies, giving you the main adventure as well as some smaller minigames that unlock as you play the game. Your ninjas unlock as you go level to level as well, with the robots also increasing in difficulty. While it seems like a simple enough formula, does copying something popular make it work?

Daily Scoop: December 17, 2012 – What did you ask for?

It’s Monday again! It’s like this happens every week or something. But luckily, it’s the last Monday before the long holiday break. I am looking forward to sitting around, gaming, cleaning, and eating! Well, ok, I’m not really looking forward to cleaning, but I am looking forward to cleaning out some of my old junk. I may even sell some of the old games I don’t play anymore. But… but I don’t want to!

There are some more deals going on over at Amazon right now, for those of you looking for last-minute gifts, or something you asked for that you know you might not get. Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion is $19.99, the Game of Thrones Art Book Bundle is $19.99 (WOW!), Power Rangers Samurai is $19.99, and the Zone of the Enders HD Collection is $24.99. I think I might cave and get that Game of Thrones set. It’s too good to be true!

Just one shirt for you today, but it’s a funny one!

Weekly Warp-Up: We’re Not Ready to Announce It Edition

No, that’s not a typo. Welcome to the Weekly Warp-Up, your weekly wrap-up of the biggest and the best articles posted at Warp Zoned this week…

There was a lot of non-announcement announcements made this week.

First up, Blizzard’s Rob Pardo has revealed that the developer has a version of Diablo III “up and running” on console hardware. But they’re still not ready to announce it and there’s a possibility that the game may never be released.

Next, Valve’s Gabe Newell has confirmed that his company is hard at work on the long-rumored “Steam Box” and will probably release it next year. But any details about the name, the price, and what it’s capable of are still up in the air.

Finally, a job listing posted by PopCap Games has revealed the developer is working on a “AAA game.” It probably won’t be some brutal bloodbath, but it does use the same engine that powers Battlefield 3 and Medal of Honor: Warfighter. Alright then.

And here’s a real announcement for good measure… There’s just two more days to enter our contest to win a Best of Bond two-CD set and a copy of 007 Legends for the Xbox 360.

God of War: Ascension beta begins on January 8 for PS Plus subscribers

Sony has announced that God of War: Ascension‘s multiplayer beta will begin on January 8. All PlayStation Plus subscribers will be invited to download the beta client, and they’ll be treated to “visceral, larger than life, online combat.”

Here’s a few more details about the beta straight from Sony Santa Monica (via the PlayStation Blog):

So the burning-in-Hades question is, what will you play in our Multiplayer Beta? A visceral, larger than life, online combat experience for starters. We are kicking off the Beta with our signature Team Favor of the Gods mode and the yet-to-be-seen Favor of the Gods mode, which plays like Team Favor of the Gods, but without the teams. In both modes, you’ll fight to reach the requisite number of favor points from the Gods, earning points via kills, bonus brutal kills, opening chests, capturing domination points, and, if you’re skillful enough, performing executions using the Spear of Olympus.

God of War: Ascension will be released exclusively for the PS3 on March 12, 2013.

Sleeping Dogs: The Zodiac Tournament DLC available on December 18

sleepingdogszodiacThe second downloadable expansion for Sleeping Dogs, “The Zodiac Tournament,” will be available to download on December 18.

Unlike the self-contained storyline featured in “Nightmare at North Point,” “The Zodiac Tournament” will hook into the main game and add a mysterious island to the game map. Don’t worry, the island isn’t populated by Smoke Monsters or misfit toys, but it does host a fighting tournament that Wei Shen can enter if he’s tough enough.

As you can see from the poster on your right, “The Zodiac Tournament” will draw heavily from Bruce Lee’s classic film, Enter the Dragon. It even includes a Mr. Han-like evil mastermind.

Daily Scoop: December 14, 2012 – Meteor shower?

Sadly, I missed the meteor shower last night. That’s one drawback of living in the city, I suppose! You don’t ever really get to see any stars, or anything cool in the night sky. But at least I’m going to a cool indie games showcase tonight! I am really looking forward to that. It’ll be a great way to start off the weekend!

I’m really just going to talk about those Amazon deals again, because every time I look, I feel like they’ve snuck more games in. The Amazing Spider-Man, Assassin’s Creed: Ezio Trilogy, and Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two are all $29.99. Those are pretty sweet deals!

Got a few shirts to tempt you before the weekend starts!
