The Games of April 2015

gamesofapril-header

Some of us will be playing Mortal Kombat, some of us will be playing Shovel Knight, and some of us will be playing both during the month of April. But that’s not all – there are a few other games we’re excited about, too! Read on to see what the Warp Zoned crew has on their plates for April.

It has begun! After months of teasing (and after a relentless last few weeks), NetherRealm Studios is this close to releasing Mortal Kombat X and I cannot wait. I’ve always been a big fan of the franchise and the game’s “next generation” concept has me awfully excited about the game’s Story Mode. All the little arcade rats of 1992 would have been absolutely gobsmacked at the idea of a Story Mode in a fighting game. We live in strange times. But it’s a time with a new Mortal Kombat, so I’m OK with that.

And as Warp Zoned’s resident twin-stick savant, I’m also looking forward to the console release of We Are Doomed. It’s unique graphical style and hypnotic music are a perfect fit for the genre.

There’s really not too much I’m excited for in April, other than being able to play We Are Doomed on my PS4! No, that’s not true – I’m also really excited about playing Shovel Knight on the Vita. Other than that, I’m going to try to wrap up at least one of the RPGs I started back in December – Kingdom Hearts, Persona, or Pokemon!

Mortal Kombat X. I haven’t been this excited for Mortal Kombat since 1993! And I never got to play Bastion, so I can see myself picking that up on the PS4 at some stage.

And my girlfriend has to keep dragging me away from game stores whenever I see Xenoblade Chronicles 3D – I would pick up a 3DS solely for that game, and I really hope a lot of people who did not get to enjoy it on the Wii pick it up. If I didn’t have a five foot pile of unplayed games, I’d be restarting it on the Wii U.

MORTAL KOMBAT X!!!!! Ba-da-dum-dum-dum ba-dum-da-dum-dum ba-da-dum-dum-dum! Sorry, I only usually get one chance each generation to do that. So I’m going to do it. I’ve been hooked ever since I saw my first fatality back in nineteen-dickity-two. I am an MK fanatic. You can bet I’ll be picking up this title, and the Season Pass that goes with it. Which is saying a lot, since I tend to shy away from season passes. But the team of Jason Voorhees and the Predator is just too enticing. And speaking of things I don’t normally do, I’ll probably pick up the PS4 version of Shovel Knight. Because come on man, it’s Shovel Knight.
