Capcom doesn’t object to a Western release for Ace Attorney 5

Capcom confirmed that the next game starring Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney 5, was in development for the 3DS in the pages of Famitsu earlier today. Now, they’ve confirmed the game will be available in North America and Europe as well.

Speaking to Siliconera, Brian Keltner, Capcom’s PR Manager, kept his statement short and sweet:

Capcom is planning to release Gyakuten Saiban 5 (Ace Attorney 5) in the West. We’ll have more news soon.

This was pretty much a sure thing already, but it’s nice to have confirmation.

Daily Scoop: September 5, 2012 – More games, more problems

I love games. Video games, board games, card games… it’s becoming kind of a problem, if you know what I’m saying. If I had more time to play them, it might be alleviated a bit. But I cram all my free time with them. Last night, it was Cards Against Humanity (with the new expansion!) and Super Dungeon Explore, with just a pinch of Ascension. Tonight? Dungeons and Dragons and Rainbow Moon, and maybe Chrono Trigger if I’m lucky. My heart is not complaining. My classwork and wallet are.

Anyway! A big thanks to Mike Ryan for his Bonus Scoop he wrote yesterday about Kid Icarus: Uprising. Way to keep a sharp eye out!

What have we got for you today? Well, Best Buy is having a buy two, get one free sale on 3DS games, including Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. I started buying some of them until I remembered I’m supposed to stop buying games for real, and then I had an argument with myself while holding my wallet and staring at the computer screen.

This is really what my life is like.

Amazon is still having their back to school sale, including Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for $39.99, the ultimate edition of Fallout: New Vegas for $29.99, and Max Payne 3 for $39.99. Scoop ’em up, folks!

Just one cool t-shirt for you today…

XBLA Today: Kung Fu Strike, Dogfight 1942

You’ve got a choice with today’s Xbox Live Arcade update.

You can use your feet to strike fear into the hearts of your enemies in Kung Fu Strike: The Warrior’s Rise:

In Kung Fu Strike: The Warrior’s Rise, ancient China is being ripped apart by three warring forces, the Tian Empire, the invading forces of Shaa seeking to overthrow the Empire’s King, and a rebel uprising with their own agenda. Playing as martial arts master General Loh, you’re thrown into the middle of this bitter war armed only with your deadliest weapon: your fists. Fight your way through waves of enemies and towering bosses with lethal attacks, learn new skills to take down even the toughest opponent and see if you have what it takes to complete the frantic challenge modes. If going it alone is too much, then team up with a friend in co-op mode or show off your killer moves in the Versus Mode.

Or you can hop into a fighter plane and take on the Nazis in Dogfight 1942:

Piloting a wide range of aircraft, players engage in aerial dogfights and dangerous fighter missions across the major theaters of war during WWII. Featuring realistic aircraft, Dogfight 1942 introduces cutting-edge flight dynamics with unprecedented arcade accessibility.

Kung Fu Strike will set you back 800 Microsoft Points ($10) while Dogfight 1942 has been priced at 1200 Microsoft Points ($15). Both are available to download now.

Phoenix Wright returns in Ace Attorney 5 for 3DS

Phoenix Wright is back! A report in the latest issue of Famitsu (translated by Andriasang) has revealed that the crafty lawyer will be returning to portable gaming devices in Ace Attorney 5.

Ace Attorney 5 will be available for the 3DS and will see the return of Phoenix Wright as the main character. Wright was last seen as the star of the series in 2007’s Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations.

Few details about the game were revealed, but we do know that it takes place one year after Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, a courtroom explosion figures prominently in the beginning of the game, and “a mysterious girl in yellow clothing” will be helping Phoenix.

A playable demo of Ace Attorney 5 will make an appearance at the Tokyo Game Show later this month, and hopefully a US release date will be announced soon.

Splice: Tree of Life Review: Tricking You Into Liking Science

Splice is another addition to the growing list of unique and interesting games by Philadelphia-based Cipher Prime. The player must solve puzzles using molecules to build DNA strands. Each level adds another layer of complexity to the puzzles. The game was released on the PC initially, but was added to the App Store for the iPad just as PAX Prime opened its doors. In fact, Splice was chosen as one of the PAX 10 this year, on the show floor for both PC and iPad. Does the conversion to iPad work for this clever puzzler?
