Lucid’s racer is 2K Drive for iPad, not PGR5 for Xbox One

Earlier this year the rumor mill cranked up into overdrive over the prospect of a new entry in the Project Gotham Racing series. Supposedly, the developers at Lucid Games (which was formed in the aftermath of Bizarre Creations’ closure) were said to be working on Project Gotham Racing 5. It looks like that was all wishful thinking, as Lucid’s racing game has popped up on the iOS App Store instead.

Known as 2K Drive, the iPad-exclusive racer is currently available to download in the Netherlands and will surely be released in the rest of the world soon. The free-to-play game will include “real licensed cars, console quality graphics,” and “authentic driving environments.”

Watch “Exposed,” the Watch Dogs E3 2013 trailer, right here

It seems like not a month goes by without the release a new trailer for Watch Dogs. And with the E3 Expo just a few hours away, Ubisoft has released a “Exposed,” an all-CGI affair that definitely qualifies as ridiculously awesome.

This time, Aiden Pearce uses his hacking skills to infiltrate a human trafficking ring and exacts some Liam Neeson-style vengeance on the “auctioneer” and his accomplices.

Trust me, if you do nothing else today, you want to take three minutes and 30 seconds out of your day to check it out.

Ubisoft plans to announce Just Dance 2014 soon

An Xbox.com listing for Just Dance 2014 (after all, it is the Madden of dance games) has popped up, pretty much confirming that Ubisoft will announce the next game in the series at this week’s E3 Expo.

There’s just a handful of screenshots now, but they do point towards a few song selections including the “Ghostbusters Theme” by Ray Parker Jr. and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” I suppose a zombie in a cemetery flinging its arm around could belong to a different song, but I doubt it.

Just Dance 2014 will be coming to the Xbox 360 for sure, probably the Xbox One as well, and likely every other platform under the sun (PS3, PS4, Wii, and the Wii U).

Konami files trademark application for “Contra: Run and Gun”

contrareboot-logoIt’s been two long years since we got the chance to play the last new game in the Contra series, Hard Corps: Uprising. And it’s been almost as long since Konami revealed plans to reboot the series at E3 2011.

Hopefully things will move a little quicker now that the publisher has filed a trademark application with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) for a new game known as Contra: Run and Gun.

The application was filed on June 4 and, beyond confirming that it belongs to an in-production video game, doesn’t tell us anything more than the title. But with E3 2013 set to kick off in a big way today, maybe we’ll learn more about the future of the Contra franchise sooner rather than later.

Spike TV’s Geoff Keighley and Justine Ezarik (iJustine) hosted Activision’s pre-E3 Call of Duty: Ghosts extravaganza, “Call of Duty: Ghosts All Access,” yesterday and delivered 30 minutes of new information about Infinity Ward’s new entry in the immensely popular series. In case you missed it, you can check out thanks to the YouTube embed above, or you can skip to the highlights:

  • Gameplay from the underwater level, “Into the Deep,” begins at 3:00.
  • “No Man’s Land,” a level which promises to give us our first look at Riley the Dog, begins at 14:35.
  • And finally, the livestream closed with almost seven minutes of new gameplay footage (which will be shown at Activision’s E3 booth this week), beginning at 21:50.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be available for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on November 5. A next-generation version for the PS4 and Xbox One will be available during each system’s respective launch window.

Weekly Warp-Up: E3 2013 is Tomorrow Edition

No, that’s not a typo. Welcome to the Weekly Warp-Up, your weekly wrap-up of the biggest and the best articles posted at Warp Zoned this week…

We’re just a little over 24 hours away from the official opening of the 2013 E3 Expo. This week saw the last bits of preparation for gaming’s biggest showcase fall into place including E3 lineup announcements from Activision, Square Enix, and Capcom (who has a “big surprise” in store for us). Let’s see, what else…

Konami confirmed that Kiefer Sutherland will voice Snake in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain… Namco Bandai erected a massive banner in Los Angeles touting the release date of Dark Souls II… Bethesda released an E3 trailer for Wolfenstein: The New Order and Twisted Pixel announced that LocoCycle is coming to E3 2013 and the Xbox One.

Finally, Microsoft has begun talking about the Xbox One’s used game policies and online connectivity requirements. They’re not bad as we thought, but they’re good either.

In non-E3 news, we interviewed the chaps from Zeboyd Games about Penny Arcade’s On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 4 this week and UK Correspeondent Andrew Rainnie filed another edition of Kickstart This!

New Releases: The Last of Us, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Dark

The E3 Expo begins this Tuesday (and several press conferences are scheduled to take place tomorrow), so the average gamer will likely be fairly distracted for the next few days. In response, game publishers have wisely avoided adding anything to the release calendar this week. So that makes it the perfect time for Nintendo, Naughty Dog, and Kalypso Media to release a few of this year’s most anticipated titles.

Starting things off, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the first game in the series to be released on the 3DS, is in stores today and is also available to download from the 3DS eShop.

Also available this week (on Friday, actually) is The Last of Us, Naughty Dog’s first non-Nathan Drake game in nearly ten years. Gamers have been clamoring over each other for any new information about this PS3 post-apocalyptic title since it was first announced in 2011. Thankfully, the wait is almost over.

Finally, Kalypso Media will release Dark, an action RPG where players control a powerful vampire, for the PC. I’m not sure gamers are as hyped up for Dark as they are for Animal Crossing and The Last of Us, but it does look interesting.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Review: Mortal Kom-ics

It’s easy to think of Injustice: Gods Among Us as the next logical step after the two previous titles from NetherRealm Studios: 2008’s Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe and the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot. But Injustice is also more (and less) than the sum of its parts. It will be familiar to anyone who has played the Mortal Kombat reboot, but it also does new things that really tap into the “Gods Among Us” angle.
